Through social media, magazine, and television, people are constantly bombarded with aspirational, but often unattainable, images of health, beauty, and fitness. So it’s no surprise that low-esteem, especially in young women, is reported to be on the rise. At Sofia Rose Beauty, we think you’re gorgeous. But if you’re struggling to feel it for yourself, we’ve put together some ways to improve your self-esteem to help you see your true beauty and embrace yourself with more love and positivity.

In March 2019, the HD Brows team launched their Love Yourself More campaign. The campaign encourages people to celebrate their differences as the things that make them beautiful. With a focus on loving yourself, HD Brows ask you to share what you love about yourself on social media with the hashtag #HDSelfLoveClub.

At Sofia Rose Beauty, we wholeheartedly support the idea of ‘self-love’. Through our eyebrow and eyelash treatments we work with your natural brow and lashes to add shape and definition that enhances your own unique features, all done in our relaxing home salon. We're passionate about natural beauty, and hate to see our clients feeling under pressure to consider more invasive treatments and accepting this as 'the norm'.

Five Ways to Improve Your Self Esteem and Love Yourself More

Focus on the positives: Take some time to think positive things about yourself, or the positive things that people have said to you. Start with just one thing about your appearance or your personality that you like and say it out loud…then find another thing….and another…and another. Pretty soon you’ll be taking control of your self-confidence and putting those negative perceptions to bed.

Comparison is the thief of joy: Stop comparing yourself to others. Focussing on whether someone else has longer legs, straighter hair, smoother skin will not make you happier. Celebrate the things that make you, you!

Surround yourself with positivity: Arrange to meet up with people who make you feel good about yourself. If you have people in your friendship or family circle who make you feel unhappy or bad about yourself, limit the time you spend with them or, if you’re able to, speak to them about how you feel.

Say ‘yes’ to yourself: If you feel you have to help others out all the time, it can place extra pressure on you, especially if they never return the favour. Practice saying ‘no’ from time to time to protect yourself and use that time to look after yourself. Take a bubble bath, do your nails, or pamper yourself with a facial or eyebrow treatment instead.

We know that so many of our clients struggle to justify spending time on themselves between child, work, and family commitments. At Sofia Rose we just want to give you a little reminder:

"How can you look after someone else or give your full effort and attention to something if you don't look after yourself first?'

Set new goals: If you’ve always wanted to give that yoga class a try or wanted to start painting, set yourself a target and go for it. Ticking off your achievements can give you a huge sense of accomplishment and pride, boosting your self-esteem.

Maybe you’ve noticed how long your eyelashes are or perhaps the arch of your eyebrow, and want to make the most out of your natural uniqueness, or maybe you just want to treat yourself to a pampering treatment and take some time for yourself. Sofia Rose Beauty can help, contact Jen to book an initial consultation or a follow-up appointment and give your self-esteem a boost by doing something nice for yourself.
