Choosing what antiaging treatments are right for you? Part 2.

Updated: Mar 16

Carrying on from part 1 on this topic, I have summarised as many antiaging face treatments that I could think of to help you to decide on what treatment you feel is right for you.

As with all beauty treatments, some techniques will have more contraindications than others (which means depending on your medical circumstances, you will or will not be able to have them done), always be honest with your practitioner when filling in the questions on your consultation form.

Thing to remember

There isn’t one “best” skin-tightening treatment, you need to look for what is the best treatment for your particular skin type, concern and situation.

Overall endermologie® is high up there in terms of how effective the end results are, but I would say, like most non-invasive treatments, you need to have a bit of patience for the best results and a course of sessions will be needed.

With endermologie®, most clients can see and feel changes after just one treatment. Your skin immediately becomes more radiant and hydrated, skin appears lifted and you can physically feel the new plumpness to your skin. Your patience will be rewarded with the perfect excuse for some 'you' time along with your new ‘healthier’ skin.

All individuals’ expectations are different, so the number of sessions and after care will vary to suit your desired results. Some non-invasive options may require more aftercare or downtime whilst the skin heals, this is something you should discuss with the practitioner when enquiring, always do your research, as your safety & health is of upmost importance.

You will be pleased to know there is no downtime what so ever after an endermologie® treatment and zero side effects or risks. It is even fine to apply makeup straight after, making it the perfect lunch time treatment.

Non-Invasive face treatments

Chemical face treatments

Chemical treatments, such as peels and medicated creams are often the first option many people try as they are widely available and less invasive. However, the impact is limited because they can only penetrate superficially.

Endermologie®

Being a 100% natural, endermologie® gives clients a third option, from traditional facial treatments being limited by their superficial action, to other techniques being a bit more aggressive which ‘can’ damage the skin or have side effects, endermologie® sits just nicely in the middle.

The endermologie® technique “mechanizes” the skin, stimulating the cells to make more collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, painlessly, and without any risk. Put simply, endermologie® for the face, helps you age better and still retain your natural expressions.

Derma pen

Creating thousands of tiny micro-channels in the skin to aid the deeper penetration of active ingredients. Combined with advanced cosmeceutical products to be used at home to further enhance this process to stimulate and encourage skin renewal. Considered a virtually painless treatment due to the vibration and high speed of penetration.

Botox and Fillers/ Profhilo

All are injected into the face, but do different things. Botox relaxes the face muscles. Whereas fillers are injected into creases and hollow areas of the face to plump and fill. Profhilo injects hyaluronic acid to improve skin lacking volume and elasticity. Ensure you do your research so that you have a reputable practitioner, you don’t want anything being injected into the wrong area.

Ultrasound, radiofrequency, and radiofrequency micro needling.

These all work on tightening the skin using heat.

Radio frequency micro needling stamps the skin to create microscopic holes, that then—once the needles are in—emit radiofrequency to tighten the layers.

With the ultrasound and radiofrequency methods, patients can experience minor redness and tenderness in the area treated, whilst possibly feeling some discomfort from the heat produced by lasers during the procedure, but overall is said to be practically painless with little downtime.

Micro needling/ Derma roller

Needles are used to create 1000s of columns of micro-injury to the skin, stimulating a natural healing response to create new collagen and elastin improving skin quality, tone and texture. When the needles are longer than 0.5mm, local anaesthetic cream is usually necessary to numb the skin prior to treatment as treatment can be uncomfortable.

Meta therapy

Creates invisible micro perforations in the skin in a quick, safe, and painless way. This stimulates the natural healing mechanism to produce collagen and elastin, which repair the micro-perforations.

PDO Thread

Threads are inserted with a needle or a blunt ended cannula which is removed once the threads have been positioned. Threads which are used to reposition the skin will have the ends protruding after insertion which are then trimmed to below the level of the skin once the desired lift has been achieved. Smooth threads are anchored to lift and stimulate collagen. Local anaesthetic may be injected to make the procedure as pain free as possible.

Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is a skin rejuvenation treatment that delivers various nourishing substances into the layers of the skin where cell repair and growth occurs’. Mesotherapy involves either multiple injections, or multiple needle punctures where topical serums have been applied to the skin.
